Las bibliotecas populares y su resignificación como bienes comunes: el caso de la Biblioteca Popular Juan José Morosoli

Abstract

En el marco de la Licenciatura en Bibliotecología de la Facultad de Información y Comunicación de la Universidad de la República, este Trabajo Final de Grado aborda el estudio de la Biblioteca Popular Juan José Morosoli, a más de 30 años de su creación. Se realiza una recuperación histórica que pretende evidenciar su relevancia como centro social y cultural, en la comunidad del barrio Cordón de Montevideo. Se propone el rescate y la sistematización de la historia de la biblioteca con la intención de dar a conocer su trayectoria, promover su revalorización y reforzar su vínculo con la comunidad. La estrategia empleada es la recuperación, digitalización y sistematización de documentos administrativos e institucionales que reflejan el relacionamiento y la participación de los vecinos y vecinas en las actividades y en la gestión. Además, se realizaron entrevistas a referentes calificados, autoridades municipales y vecinos usuarios de la biblioteca que han acompañado el proceso desde su fundación hasta la actualidad. Se evidencia cómo esta biblioteca popular se ha sostenido gracias a la participación ciudadana, a las organizaciones sociales que la han apoyado, a vecinos y vecinas que han trabajado de forma honoraria a lo largo de su trayectoria. Al difundir la memoria colectiva de la biblioteca se procura alimentar el sentido de pertenencia y estimular la participación. Se describen varias intervenciones realizadas desde la Universidad de la República en el marco de actividades de extensión que han contribuido a la recuperación y puesta en funcionamiento al inaugurar el nuevo local. Se aporta la documentación que refleja el nuevo contexto institucional en el que la biblioteca está inserta que sustenta su resignificación en el marco de los bienes comunes de la comunidad. Este trabajo es un aporte para enriquecer el estudio de las bibliotecas populares dentro de esta conceptualización.

Within the framework of the Bachelor's Degree in Library Science, from the Faculty of Information and Communication of the University of the Republic, this Final Degree Project addresses the study of the Morosoli Popular Library more than 30 years after its creation. We carry out a historical recovery that aims to demonstrate its relevance as a social and cultural center, in the community of the Cordón neighborhood of Montevideo. The rescue and systematization of the history of the library is proposed with the intention of making their career known, promoting their revaluation and strengthening their bond with the community. The strategy used is the recovery, digitization and systematization of administrative and institutional documents that reflect the relationship and participation of residents in activities and management. In addition, interviews were conducted with qualified references, municipal authorities and library user neighbors who have accompanied the process from its foundation to the present. It is evident how this popular library has been sustained thanks to citizen participation, the social organizations that have supported it, and neighbors who have worked on an honorary basis throughout its history. By disseminating the collective memory of the library, we seek to nourish the sense of belonging and stimulate participation. Several interventions carried out by the University of the Republic are described within the framework of extension activities that have contributed to the recovery and start-up when the new premises were inaugurated. Documentation is provided that reflects the new institutional framework in which the library is inserted that supports its re-signification within the framework of the common goods of the community.
