The libertine satire of poet Sarandy Cabrera, the forceful cancellation of the drawing exhibit of Oscar Larroca in 1986 by the then Mayor of Montevideo, fully supported by parliament members from all the political spectrum; the answers to these incidents and the debates in the press (Uruguay Cortazzo, Hilia Moreira, La Oreja Cortada), the performance The naked man by Hector Bardanca at Arte en la Lona (1988), are the discourses selected to link the young artistic generation of the 80s around the axis of sexuality and corporality in the context of the transition back to democracy. This analysis evidences the double discourse of a political system whose speakers invoke democratic tolerance and moral sanity while championing the repression of youth through police raids and orchestrating the law (1986) that would eventually grant impunity to the scions of the dictatorship. While the new artistic trends that strive to gain back the subject through the liberation of the bodyare shamed into guilt, the political establishment simultaneously pacts to shelter the executors of the State Terrorism Policies carried out during the dictatorship (1973-1985).
