Un silencio que grita. Violencias intrafamiliares y su impacto en las vidas de niños, niñas y adolescentes

Abstract

Este artículo aborda algunos emergentes de una investigación desarrollada entre 2020 y 2021 (Rostagnol et al., 2021), cuyo objetivo fue aportar a la comprensión de las violencias sufridas por niños, niñas y adolescentes en contextos familiares caracterizados por violencia entre la pareja adulta. Nos detenemos en caracterizar las formas de expresión de esas violencias, sus consecuencias y los límites sociales e institucionales para responder a este flagelo. El análisis evidencia la complejidad de la violencia como problema social, respecto a la multiplicidad de formas de expresión, pero también a la continuidad de algunas de las estructuras que la sostienen. Las consecuencias de la violencia muestran el nexo entre el pasado y el presente y la importancia de evidenciar y tratar estas experiencias a fin de romper con la espiral de violencia. El análisis de las entrevistas manifiesta las debilidades persistentes en la respuesta social e institucional a la violencia intrafamiliar y su impacto en niños, niñas y adolescentes.

This article addresses some elements emerging from a research (Rostagnol et al., 2021) carried out between 2020 and 2021. The aim of the research was to contribute to the understanding of the violence suffered by children and adolescents in family contexts characterized by violence between the adult couple. We dwell on characterizing the forms of expression of this violence, its consequences, and the social and institutional limitations to respond to this scourge. The analysis shows the complexity of violence as a social problem, regarding the multiplicity of forms of expression, but also the continuity of some of the structures that sustain it. The consequences of violence show the link between the past and the present, and the importance of highlighting and dealing with these experiences in order to break the spiral of violence. The analysis of the interviews reveals the persistent weaknesses in the social and institutional response to domestic violence and its impact on children and adolescents.
