«En medio del crujido de sociedades sufrientes, una luz pareció encenderse en América Central»: Miguel Soler y la Cruzada Alfabetizadora de la Revolución sandinista

Abstract

Este artículo presenta una temática no estudiada anteriormente, la participación del reconocido educador uruguayo-catalán, Miguel Soler Roca, en la educación de la Revoluciónsandinista. El pedagogo fue uno de los actores que, dentro de un contexto de Guerra Fría latinoamericana y, tras la victoria del Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacionalen 1979, cruzaron fronteras para apoyar a la naciente Revolución, desde su área de trabajo en particular. Para probar tal participación se ha trabajado con fuentes inéditas consultadas en el archivo personal de Soler, como fotografías, cartas, informes, agendas personales, dedicatorias, junto a otros textos escritos. A su vez, la investigación ha pretendido demostrar la hipótesis de que la Cruzada Nacional de Alfabetización (CNA) de 1980 fue un suceso educativo clave para acercar a Soler al proceso sandinista.Además, ha sido importante considerar la trayectoria del educador, entendiendoenqué punto de su recorrido internacional se incorporó el pedagogo al ámbito educativo de la Nicaragua revolucionaria. Para ello, también se han tomado en cuenta los aportes y las reflexiones posteriores de Soler en sus publicaciones, acerca de la Cruzada yla educación de la Revolución.Con base en el estudio realizado, es pertinente afirmar que el educador cumplió el rol de un activista transnacional, a raíz de sus trabajos por la educación revolucionaria y la memoria histórica de lo sucedido en Nicaragua.

This article presents a topic not previously studied, the participation of the renowned Uruguayan-Catalan educator, Miguel Soler Roca, in the education of the Sandinista Revolution. The pedagogue was one of the actors who, within a context of the Latin American Cold War and, after the victory of theFrente Sandinista de LiberaciónNacional (FSLN) in 1979, crossed borders to support the nascent Revolution, from his area ofwork in particular. To prove such participation, we have worked with unpublished sources consulted in Soler’s personal archive, such as: photographs, letters, reports, personal diaries, dedications, along with other written texts. At the same time, the investigation has sought to demonstrate the hypothesis that the National Literacy Crusade (CNA) of 1980 was a key educational event to bring Soler closer to the Sandinista process.Furthermore, it has been important,to consider the trajectory of educator, understanding at what point in his international journey the pedagogue joined the educational field of revolutionary Nicaragua. To this end, the contributions and subsequent reflections that Soler made in his publications about the Crusade and the educationof the Revolution have also been taken into account.Based on the study carried out, it is pertinent to affirm that the educator fulfilled the role of a transnational activist, as a result of his work for revolutionary education and the historical memory of what happened in Nicaragua.
