Identidad de género y diversidad sexual en literatura para niños : ¿temas tabúes?

Abstract

El siguiente trabajo pretende analizar la manera en que se abordan los llamados temas tabúes: identidad de género y diversidad sexual en la literatura infantil y juvenil. Se parte de la literatura infantil a través de la historia y los cuestionamientos que ha tenido esta en cuanto a las temáticas que aborda. Como metodología se empleó el análisis documental en el que se toma como referencia nueve libros que aborden estos tópicos y cuatro entrevistas a autores e investigadores referentes, de manera que permita contestar a la pregunta de investigación: ¿Qué tanto se aborda la diversidad sexual en los cuentos para niños?, así como: ¿se les leen a los niños aquellos libros que abordan el tema? ¿O sigue siendo un tema tabú? Lo que permitió hacer un recorrido histórico de los libros publicados y los cuestionamientos respecto al abordaje de la temática. Como resultados se obtuvo que existen libros en el mercado que abordan estos temas, sin embargo, aún existe cierta limitación respecto a los mismos y la manera en que se abordan que tiene que ver con los cuestionamientos y censuras de los libros. Muchos autores prefieren tratar a estos asuntos de una manera indirecta, en comparación con unos pocos que se arriesgan en conjunto con las editoriales a publicar sobre dichos tópicos y que no generen muchas ventas, así como tengan repercusiones negativas por parte de los adultos. Los entrevistados concuerdan en que todavía debe de propiciarse espacios de lectura en que aborden estos asuntos y que permita al niño ver otras realidades, así como se lo acompañe en su crecimiento y en el descubrimiento de su identidad. En conclusión, a pesar de los avances que se han visto respecto al abordaje de los temas tabúes, todavía existe cierta incertidumbre por parte de autores y editoriales al querer publicar libros sobre los mismos. Si bien existen iniciativas respecto a organizaciones y bibliotecas para evitar la censura, aún debe de seguirse generando espacios de lectura en el que el bibliotecólogo como mediador propicie la libre lectura de estos libros y dejar de promover la censura de lo que el niño puede leer.

The following paper aims to analyze the way in which some taboo topics are treated: just as gender identity and sexual diversity in children's and young adults’ literature. Starting from children's literature through history and the questions it asked regarding those issues previously mentioned. It was used documentary analysis as a methodology taking as reference nine books which treat the subject are taken and four interviews with authors and referring researchers, to answer the following question: ¿How much is sexual diversity treated in children’s stories? as well as: ¿are those books related to the subject read to children? ¿Or is it still a taboo subject? This allowed a historical tour of the books published and the questions asked regarding the approach to the subject. As a result, it was obtained that there are books on the market that treat the issue, however, there are still some limitations regarding the subject and the way in which it is treated related to the questioning and censorship of books. Many authors prefer to approach the subject indirectly, in comparison to a few who take the risk along with publishers houses to publish on this subject despite of not generating so many sales, as well as having negative repercussions on some adults. The interviewed people agree that reading spaces that talk about these issues and allow children to watch other realities must still be provided, as well as accompanying them in their growth and discovery of their identity. As a conclusion, despite the progress that has been made about how the issue is being treated, there is still an uncertain way of looking from authors and publishers about publishing books related to these subjects. Although there are initiatives supported by organizations and libraries to avoid censorship, it is still necessary to continue generating reading spaces in which the librarians as mediators encourages free reading of these books and stop promoting censorship of what child can or not read.
