Suicidio adolescente con nota de despedida: el tiempo después en madres y padres

Abstract

La presente tesis aborda el tiempo después en madres y padres a partir del suicidio de su hijo adolescente que dejó nota de despedida, indagando el significado de esta en las respuestas al hecho y qué sucedió en la dimensión bio-psico-social transcurrido el tiempo tras la pérdida. Dentro de los fallecimientos violentos en Uruguay, el suicidio representa el 45.2% en promedio en el período comprendido de 2012 y 2017, cuya tasa por cada cien mil habitantes es de las más altas en Latinoamérica. En este contexto, la tasa de suicidio adolescente ha experimentado un aumento sostenido en el tiempo. En esta investigación de carácter exploratoria, descriptiva, bajo un diseño cualitativo, se seleccionan siete casos, en ellos los adolescentes tienen entre 15 y 19 años, dejando nota de despedida y sus fallecimientos ocurrieron en el período comprendido entre el año 2012 y 2017, realizándose ocho entrevistas en modalidad semi dirigida. La muestra abarcó una unidad de análisis espacial representada al sur del Río Negro - Uruguay, que implicaron zona urbanas, suburbanas y rurales. Se realiza un análisis de contenido temático apoyado por el software informático Atlas Ti v7.0, para la interpretación y comprensión del tiempo después, a partir de la nota de despedida, la recuperación en la voz de los padres de las representaciones que poseen de sus hijos, entre los cinco y diez años posteriores al acontecimiento y los puntos de contacto en el relato de los padres y lo escrito en la nota. Los resultados mostraron que la nota dejada por el adolescente que se quitó la vida no simbolizó ni representó para sus padres la comprensión de tal decisión, en tanto estos a través de relatos por parte vecinos y allegados, sobre hechos cotidianos y anécdotas continúan conociendo a su hijo en el tiempo después.

This thesis deals with the mourning time parents deal with after the suicide of their adolescent child, who left a farewell note. Among the violent deaths in Uruguay, suicide represents 45.2% on average in the period between 2012 and 2017, which rate per hundred thousand inhabitants is one of the highest in Latin America. In this context, the adolescent suicide rate has experienced a sustained increase over time. In this exploratory, descriptive investigation, under a qualitative design, seven cases are selected, in which the adolescents were between 15 and 19 years old, leaving a farewell note and their deaths occurred in the period between 2012 and 2017. Eight interviews took place in semi-directed mode. The sample covered a spatial analysis unit represented south of the Río Negro - Uruguay, which involved urban, suburban and rural areas. An analysis of thematic content is carried out, supported by the computer software Atlas Ti v7.0, for the interpretation and understanding of the time after, from the farewell note, the of the representations they ha parents’ recovery of their children between five and ten years after the event and the points of contact in the parents' story and what was written in the note. The results showed that the note left by the adolescent who took his own life did not symbolize or represent for his parents the understanding of such a decision, whil they continue to know their loved ones through stories from neighbors and relatives about daily events and anecdotes in the time after.
