Relatos del puerperio: experiencias de mujeres en su encuentro con la maternidad

Abstract

La presente investigación abordó las experiencias del puerperio de mujeres residentes en la ciudad de Montevideo tras el nacimiento de su primer/a hijo/a. El estudio se centra en el análisis de aquellas dimensiones de la vivencia subjetiva identificadas como de mayor relevancia de acuerdo a las narrativas de las entrevistadas y sus relaciones con factores de orden social y cultural. Se utilizó una metodología cualitativa, y desde un enfoque de tipo narrativo se recogieron los relatos de 8 mujeres durante el primer año posterior al parto de su primer/a hijo/a. Posteriormente se llevó a cabo un análisis de contenido temático, identificando los principales núcleos de problematicidad presentes en las narrativas, qué desafíos habían encontrado ante la experiencia de sus maternidades durante el puerperio y qué estrategias lograron construir para enfrentar los mismos. Como principales conclusiones se identifican algunas dimensiones que adquieren mayor relevancia, como ser la importancia del relato, las relaciones entre la experiencia de parto y el puerperio, la distancia entre las concepciones médicas y la vivencia de las mujeres, y los efectos subjetivos que esto produce en las mujeres-madres. Como desafíos en la etapa se observan el proceso de recuperación tras el parto y las consecuencias de las intervenciones que se hayan producido durante el mismo, el reconocimiento del cuerpo puérpero, las dificultades en la lactancia, y la esfera de la sexualidad. Las exigencias que el ejercicio de cuidados tiene para las mujeres-madres, y construcción de la identidad materna. Estos aspectos son analizados en relación a la producción teórica que aborda los mandatos socioculturales que se erigen sobre la maternidad y los efectos que los mismos tienen en las experiencias de las mujeres puérperas. Como facilitadores en el tránsito por la etapa se identifica la importancia de las redes de contención y escucha que pueden acompañar y asesorar a las mujeres-madres, el acompañamiento profesional y afectivo a las diferentes dificultades enfrentadas, los apoyos en la órbita de los cuidados mediante acciones concretas tendientes a facilitar las responsabilidades delegadas en las mujeres.

This research addressed the postpartum experiences of women living in the city of Montevideo after the birth of their first child. The study focuses on the analysis of those dimensions of the subjective experience identified as most relevant according to the narratives of the interviewees and their relationships with social and cultural factors. As challenges in the stage, the recovery process after childbirth and the consequences of the interventions that have occurred during it, the recognition of the puerperal body, the difficulties in breastfeeding, and the sphere of sexuality are observed. These aspects are analyzed in relation to the theoretical production that addresses the sociocultural mandates that are erected on motherhood and the effects that they have on the experiences of postpartum women. As facilitators in the transition through the stage, the importance of the support and listening networks that can accompany and advise women-mothers, the professional and affective accompaniment to the different difficulties faced, the support in the sphere of care through concrete actions aimed at facilitating the responsibilities delegated to women.
