Simulación como herramienta para la adquisición de destrezas técnicas en estudiantes de pregrado: Hospital de Clínicas Dr. Manuel Quintela año 2021

Abstract

Introducción: El entrenamiento de destrezas técnicas, necesarias en el ejercicio de la medicina, utilizando simuladores, está avalado por múltiples estudios. La simulación recrea experiencias reales, en un ambiente seguro, controlado y didáctico, donde se aprende de los errores. Objetivo general: Evaluar la adquisición de destrezas técnicas utilizando simuladores, en estudiantes de pregrado de la carrera Doctor en Medicina. Material y métodos: La investigación se llevó a cabo entre agosto y septiembre del año 2021. Participaron 24 estudiantes de 6to año (reclutados por redes sociales). Cada participante recibió material de estudio escrito y audiovisual antes de comenzar el entrenamiento en Intubación Orotraqueal (IOT) y Punción Venosa Periférica (PVP). Se realizaron 3 sesiones de entrenamiento donde en la última se evaluó el desempeño de cada participante utilizando una grilla para cada maniobra. Al finalizar se realizó una encuesta indagando sobre el ejercicio realizado y su inclusión para el entrenamiento en habilidades técnicas en la carrera. Resultados: En IOT: el 6º ítem “toma tubo con mano derecha y logra IOT” tuvo un 100% de aciertos. Para PVP: el 5º ítem “obtiene reflujo de sangre en la cámara” obtuvo un 87% de aciertos. Por último, con respecto a la encuesta realizada: un 88.5% consideraron que los ejercicios de simulación de IOT eran “muy buenos”, y para los de PVP un 73.1%. Un 92.3% se encontraron “totalmente de acuerdo” con la inclusión de estos ejercicios en la actividad curricular y 80.8% se encontraron “totalmente de acuerdo” en que este entrenamiento aumentará su confianza al momento de realizar estas maniobras. Conclusión: Los estudiantes lograron el objetivo de cada ejercicio, adquiriendo las habilidades técnicas entrenadas. La encuesta recogió juicios positivos para todos los temas indagados.

Introduction: The training of technical skills, useful and necessary in the practice of medicine with addition of simulators is supported by multiple studies. The simulation manages to recreate real experiences in a safe, controlled and didactic environment, where it is possible to learn from mistakes. General Objective: Evaluate the acquisition of technical skills using simulators in undergraduate students of the Doctor of Medicine career. Material and methods: The research took place between August and September 2021 in which 24 6th-year students (recruited by social networks) participated. Each participant received audiovisual and written study material before beginning the training in Orotracheal Intubation (OTI) and Peripheral Venous Puncture (PVP). 3 training sessions were carried out and in the last one, the performance of each participant was evaluated using a grid for each maneuver. At the end, a survey was conducted based on the training exercises performed and the inclusion of simulation exercises for training in technical skills in the career. Results: In OTI: the 6th item "Take a tube with the right hand and achieve OTI'' was 100% successful. For PVP: the 5th item "gets blood backflow in the chamber" obtained 87% success. Finally, relating to the survey carried out: 88.5% of the OTI and 73,1% of the PVP simulation exercises participants, rated them "very good". 92.3% found "totally in agreement" with including these exercises in the curricular activity and 80.8% found "totally in agreement" that this training will improve their confidence at the execution of these maneuvers. Conclusion: The students achieved the objective of each exercise, acquiring the trained technical skills. The survey collects positive judgments for every subject.
