Caracterización del cáncer de mama precoz en mujeres añosas Hospital de Clínicas 2011 - 2018

Abstract

OBJETIVOS El objetivo de este trabajo fue conocer las características, manejo, evolución e impacto emocional del cáncer de mama (CM) precoz en mujeres añosas. METODOLOGÍA Se encuestó telefeónicamente a pacientes de sexo femenino, de 70 años o más diagnosticadas con CM precoz (estadio 0, I, II), asistidas en la Unidad de Mastología del Servicio de Oncología del Hospital de Clínicas en el período 1 de enero 2011 – 31 de diciembre 2018, donde también se recabaron datos relevantes en las correspondientes historias clínicas. RESULTADOS En cuanto a las características del CM en la población estudiada, 22 (70,96%) presentaron carcinoma ductal infiltrante NOS, y 18 pacientes (58,06%) presentaron grado histológico 2. Con respecto al tratamiento convencional, el mismo fue realizado a 14 pacientes (45,16%), fueron subtratadas 12 pacientes (38,71%) y 5 pacientes (16,13%) fueron sobretratadas. Actualmente 17 (54,84%) viven sin la enfermedad, 4 (12,90%) viven con la enfermedad y 10 (32,26%) fallecieron, siendo la sobrevida de nuestra población de aproximadamente 8 años. 12 pacientes (63,15%) refirieron que su estado anímico no se vio afectado por el diagnóstico ni por el tratamiento de la enfermedad. CONCLUSIONES Se deberá seguir investigando en esta temática dado el aumento de la esperanza de vida en esta población y la falta de estudios en esta área.

OBJECTIVES The objective of this work was to know the characteristics, management, evolution and emotional impact of early breast cancer (BC) in elderly women. METHODOLOGY Female patients, aged 70 years or older, diagnosed with early BC (stage 0 I II), attended by the Mastology Unit of the Oncology Service of the Hospital de Clínicas, in the period January 1 2011 - December 31, 2018 were included. They were surveyed by telephone and relevant data was collected in the corresponding medical records. RESULTS Regarding the characteristics of BC in the studied population, 70% had infiltrating ductal carcinoma NOS, and more than 50% had histological grade 2. According to conventional treatment, it was performed in 14 patients (45,16 %), 12 patients were undertreated (38,71%) and 5 patients (16.13%) were overtreated. Currently 17 patients (54,84 %) live without the disease, 4 (12,90%) live with the disease and 10 (32,26%) died, being the survival of our population approximately 8 years. 12 patients (63,15%) reported that their mood was neither affected by the diagnosis nor the treatment. CONCLUSIONS Research should continue in this area due to the increase in life expectancy in the population and lack of studies in this subject.
