Heridas químicas: el consumo de antidepresivos en jóvenes del Área Metropolitana, una mirada desde el agenciamiento

Abstract

El presente trabajo de investigación surge como producto del Taller de Investigación de Sociología: Drogas, Cultura, Salud y Delito de la Licenciatura en Sociología de la Universidad de la República, Uruguay, y se centra en torno al estudio del consumo de antidepresivos en jóvenes del Área Metropolitana de Montevideo. Habiéndose realizado 16 entrevistas a jóvenes se utiliza la perspectiva del agenciamiento (Deleuze y Guattari, 2005; Delanda, 2006; Fox y Ward, 2008)para establecer la constitución de este, sus partes y sus relaciones como también los procesos de subjetivación vinculados. Se mapea la relación entre el sufrimiento y la hipótesis serotoninérgica de la depresión como también los vínculos con los estereotipos de locura y depresión. En el proceso se atiende a la subjetivación de una identidad estigmatizada. (Goffman, 2006). Entre los hallazgos destacamos como en las entrevistas emergió el carácter performativo de las clasificaciones psiquiátricas (Hacking en Bielli, 2012), el carácter de ritual de confesión dentro de la consulta psiquiátrica, la capacidad de afectación de los espacios como la sala de espera, la emergencia de un neurochemical self (Rose, 2007) y la promesa de los antidepresivos del restablecimiento de un self perdido (Karp, 2006). Nuestras conclusiones vinculan los hallazgos con la privatización del estrés y la quimico- biologización del sufrimiento psíquico, como también con la falta de reconocimiento (Honneth, 1997) a les consumidores de antidepresivos.

The present research work emerges as a product of the Sociology Research Workshop: Drugs, Culture, Health and Crime of the Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of the Republic, Uruguay, and focuses on the study of antidepressant use among young people in the Metropolitan Area of Montevideo. Having conducted 16 interviews with young people, the perspective of assemblage theory (Deleuze and Guattari, 2005, Delanda, 2006, Fox and Ward, 2008) is used to establish the constitution of it, its parts and their relationships as well as the linked processes of subjectivation. The relationship between suffering and the serotonergic hypothesis of depression is mapped as well as the links with the stereotypes of madness and depression. In the process, the subjectivity of a stigmatized identity is addressed. (Goffman, 2006). Among the findings we highlight how in the interviews the performative character of the psychiatric classifications emerged (Hacking in Bielli, 2012), as well as the character of confession ritual within the psychiatric consultation, the ability to be affected by the spaces such as the waiting room, the emergence of a neurochemical self (Rose, 2007) and the promise that antidepressants carry of the reestablishment of a lost self (Karp, 2006) Our conclussions link the findings with the privatization of stress and the chemical- biologization of psychic suffering (Fisher, 2009), as well as the lack of recognition (Honneth, 1997) to consumers of antidepressants.
