El lugar de la angustia en la constitución del sujeto : la presencia que no engaña

Abstract

El presente Trabajo Final de Grado se propone explorar la función de la angustia en la constitución del sujeto. Se comienza por considerar la perspectiva de Byung-Chul Han donde la angustia se presenta, para el sujeto contemporáneo, como el reverso del mandato de rendimiento y autoexplotación promovidos por la lógica neoliberal. El recorrido teórico incluye aportes de lecturas realizadas sobre los trabajos de pensadores como Søren Kierkegaard, Sigmund Freud y Jacques Lacan. Se destaca, en primer lugar, la concepción kierkegaardiana de la angustia como el vértigo ante la posibilidad de elección y la responsabilidad subjetiva que ésta implica. A continuación, se abordan tres momentos del desarrollo freudiano sobre la angustia; así como la formulación lacaniana que la concibe como un efecto constitutivo ligado al objeto a y a la imposibilidad de simbolización que esto implica, subrayando además que, lejos de tratarse de una señal por la pérdida del objeto, la angustia se manifiesta como la señal de una presencia allí donde estructuralmente debería haber una falta. Se sostiene, entonces, que la angustia no debe ser entendida como un síntoma a eliminar, sino como una vía privilegiada de acceso a la estructura deseante del sujeto; en tanto pone en juego un punto de encuentro con aquello que excede al principio de placer y resiste toda simbolización. Desde esta perspectiva, no se apunta a "normalizar" al sujeto ni a silenciar su malestar, sino a transformar su relación con el deseo y con el modo singular en que hace lazo con su goce.

This final project aims to explore the function of anguish in the constitution of the subject. It begins by considering the perspective of Byung-Chul Han, where anguish appears, for the contemporary subject, as the reverse of the mandate of performance and self-exploitation promoted by the neoliberal logic. The theoretical framework includes contributions drawn from the works of thinkers such as Søren Kierkegaard, Sigmund Freud, and Jacques Lacan. First, Kierkegaard’s conception of anguish is highlighted, understood as the vertigo before the possibility of choice and the subjective responsibility it entails. Next, three stages of Freud’s development on anguish are addressed, as well as Lacan’s formulation, which conceives it as a constitutive effect linked to the object a and to the impossibility of symbolization this implies. Lacan also underlines that anguish, far from being a signal of the loss of the object, manifests itself as the signal of a presence precisely where there should structurally be a lack. It is argued, therefore, that anguish should not be understood as a symptom to be eliminated, but rather as a privileged pathway to access the subject’s desiring structure; insofar as it brings into play an encounter with that which exceeds the pleasure principle and resists all symbolization. From this perspective, the aim is not to “normalize” the subject nor to silence their discomfort, but to transform their relationship with desire and with the singular way they are bound to their jouissance.
