Ciencias por y para las mujeres: tiempo de compartir desde América Latina

Abstract

Este trabajo relata un encuentro entre mujeres científicas en el marco de la Sociedad de Toxicología y Química Ambiental Latinoamericana (SETAC-LA de las siglas en inglés) titulado +Mujeres +Ciencia. Tuvo como objetivo intercambiar sobre las diferentes dimensiones de hacer y pensar ciencia generada por y para las mujeres en forma flexible, crítica e interactiva. Nos interesaba intercambiar sobre los aspectos que tienen nuestras formas de trabajo y estudio, investigación, comunicación y aplicación de los resultados. El encuentro inició con una breve introducción por parte de las organizadoras, planteando el objetivo y la dinámica de trabajo. Fue seguida de cuatro presentaciones de las invitadas, científicas y hacedoras de la ciencia en la región, que trabajan con aspectos de género desde distintas perspectivas. Utilizando las presentaciones como punto de partida, para luego intercambiar con las y los asistentes, sobre las observaciones, desafíos y dificultades compartidas por las mujeres disertantes respecto de la ciencia por y para mujeres. El encuentro fue muy emotivo y movilizador. Emotivo y movilizador porque consideramos que todas nos encontramos en los relatos y sentires de las demás compañeras. Nos hizo pensar en lo importante que es generar nuestros encuentros, para escucharnos. Este texto pretende plasmar lo sucedido, compartirlo en el lenguaje que sabemos hablar las científicas, como trabajadoras de la palabra, nuestra tarea es crear retóricas de valor que dejen señales, hagan historia, así como lo hicieron otra por nosotras, un camino sembrado de sororidad, con la certeza de que no estamos ni estaremos solas en nunca más.

This work describes a meeting between women scientists within the framework of the Latin America Society of Toxicology and Environmental Chemistry (SETAC-LA) entitled +Women +Science. The objective was to exchange about the different dimensions of doing and thinking science by and for women in a flexible, critical and interactive way. We were interested in exchanging our ways of working and studying, researching, and communicating our results. The meeting began with a brief introduction by the organizers, stating the objective and work dynamics. It was followed by four presentations by the guests, scientists and science makers from the region, who work with gender aspects from different perspectives. Using the presentations as a starting point, a discussion with the attendees was then proposed about presentations shared by the women speakers regarding science by and for women. The meeting was very emotional and mobilizing. because we consider that we all find ourselves in the stories and feelings of the colleagues. It made us think how important it is to generate meetings and dedicate time listening to each other. This manuscript aims to capture what happened, to share it in the language that we scientists know how to speak. As workers of the word, our task is to create rhetoric of value that leaves signs, makes history, just as another did for us, a path strewn with sisterhood, with the certainty that we are not and will not be alone in these ever again
