Trayectoria de Trabajadoras Sexuales en torno a la Lactancia Humana

Abstract

La lactancia humana es conocida por sus numerosos beneficios, los cuales son promocionados tanto por la sociedad como por los equipos de salud incontables veces. En las poblaciones vulneradas y marginadas, la lactancia no es abordada con la profundidad merecida. En este trabajo nos enfocaremos en conocer las experiencias de las trabajadoras sexuales. La estigmatización social que estas mujeres atraviesan por el simple hecho de ejercer trabajo sexual, se ve potenciada cuando se vincula la maternidad y dentro de esta a la lactancia, por la presión social que en varias ocasiones termina por afectar este proceso y ser un factor de riesgo para el abandono precoz de la misma, ya que las mujeres no logran sostener su rol como “buena madre” ni su trabajo para poder sustentarse. Desde una mirada interseccional, estas mujeres son objeto de múltiples desigualdades sociales, que cuando estas se fusionan, atraviesan diversas situaciones de opresión y discriminación; limitando el acceso a derechos y oportunidades. Como consecuencia, se dificulta el correcto abordaje, perdiéndose así la atención integral de la persona. Ante esto surge la pregunta, ¿Es la lactancia atravesada por la estigmatización que se tiene sobre el trabajo sexual? Y si es así, ¿cómo se ve afectada la misma?. Mediante el presente trabajo se busca conocer sobre la interacción del trabajo sexual con la lactancia humana, a través de las diferentes experiencias, e identificando posibles factores de riesgo para su abandono precoz; como también indagar sobre los aspectos psicológicos que vivieron durante este proceso. El trabajo tendrá un enfoque cualitativo, de tipo exploratorio y fenomenológico; dirigido a trabajadoras sexuales, mayores de 18 años, que residan en Montevideo y que hayan estado en lactancia en los últimos 5 años. Realizaremos entrevistas semi-estructuradas, individuales, de forma presencial. Los datos recolectados serán procesados informáticamente, con el propósito de obtener un panorama de la situación. Previo a esto, se entregará una hoja informativa y el consentimiento informado, con el motivo de la investigación, especificando su participación voluntaria y anónima. Consideramos como futuras Obstetras Parteras que el acercamiento y el abordaje de esta población es de gran importancia, debido a la desinformación habida sobre esta comunidad. Por lo que, buscamos fomentar el estudio e investigación de esta temática, a su vez generar conciencia de la realidad que viven estas mujeres, y promover la elaboración de herramientas que permitan la correcta atención de las mismas.

Human breastfeeding is known for its numerous benefits, which are promoted by both society and health teams countless times. In vulnerable and marginalized populations, breastfeeding is not usually addressed with the depth it deserves. In this work we will focus on learning the experiences of sex workers. The social stigmatization that these women go through for the simple fact of engaging in sexual work is enhanced when motherhood is linked, and within it, breastfeeding, generating social pressure that often ends up affecting this process and being a risk factor for early abandonment, since women are unable to sustain their role as “good mothers” or their work to support themselves. From an intersectional perspective, these women are subject to multiple social inequalities, and when these come together, they go through different situations of oppression and discrimination; limiting their access to rights and opportunities. As a consequence, the correct approach becomes difficult, losing the integral care for the person. Given this, the question arises: Is breastfeeding affected by the stigmatization of sex work? And if so, how is it affected?. Through this work we seek to learn about the interaction between sex work and human breastfeeding, through different experiences, and identifying possible risk factors for early abandonment; as well as inquire about the psychological aspects they experienced during this process. The work will be with a qualitative approach, exploratory and phenomenological type; aimed at sex workers, over 18 years of age, residing in Montevideo and who have been breastfeeding in the last 5 years. We will conduct semi-structured, individual, face-to-face interviews. The data collected will be processed by computer, with the purpose of obtaining an overview of the situation. Prior to this, an informed consent will be provided, where the reason for the research will be explained, specifying their voluntary and anonymous participation. We consider as future Obstetricians Midwives that the approach and the approach to this population is of great importance, due to the lack of information regarding this community. Therefore, we seek to promote the study and research of this topic, as well as to raise awareness of the reality that these women live, and to promote the development of tools that allow the proper care of these women.
