Relevamiento de la información que manejan las mujeres en edad reproductiva para la elección del método anticonceptivo en distintas salas de espera del Hospital de Rocha

Abstract

Desde la experiencia vivida en las diferentes rotaciones clínicas a lo largo de la carrera surge la cuestión de que si las mujeres cuentan con información adecuada para su salud, en este caso nos enfocaremos en la información que cuentan las mujeres con respecto a métodos anticonceptivos. Sustenta dicho cuestionamiento en los embarazos no planificados que a pesar del abanico de métodos todavía siguen ocurriendo, además de notar la insatisfacción de usuarias con su método actual. En base a esos factores surge la interrogante: ¿las mujeres cuentan con información confiable, veráz y consciente de los métodos anticonceptivos disponibles en nuestro medio? Además saber ¿cuál sería el método adecuado según su caso? Para llevar a cabo la misma se realizaron 488 encuestas, en las diferentes salas de espera del Hospital de Rocha. Se toman como criterios de inclusión, la edad de las usuarias las cuales debieron oscilar entre 20 y 34 años por ser considerada la edad reproductiva ideal, según la OMS. En la presente investigación se estudiaron diferentes variables como, la utilización o no de un método anticonceptivo, si fue elegido en base a información recibida, y de qué fuente la adquirieron. Los datos obtenidos fueron: en la muestra total de las encuestas se obtuvo como resultado, que el 83% de las mujeres comprendidas dentro de la edad estipulada utilizan algún método anticonceptivo, del 100 % de las encuestadas el 95 % recibió información previo a la elección del método y el 88%, selecciono el método en base a la información adquirida. Del total de las mujeres encuestadas se destaca que el 77% obtuvo la información de los servicios de salud, un 12% la adquirieron por algún integrante de su familia, el 8 % la obtuvo del sitio Web, el 3% la recibieron de sus amigos, observándose que los valores más bajos de donde obtuvieron información fueron los centros educativos, Nivel terciario 0%, Nivel secundario 3% y Nivel primaria 0%. Observando este resultado final, se destaca que el servicio de salud es la fuente principal de asesoramiento acerca de métodos anticonceptivos, dentro del cual la Obstetra Partera es un pilar fundamental en Planificación Familiar conjuntamente con el equipo de salud.

All along the experience working in different clinical rotations throughout the career, the same question arises: Do women have adequate information regarding their health? In this case, we will focus on the information that women have regarding contraceptive methods. This questioning is supported by the fact that unplanned pregnancies are still happening despite the wide range of contraceptive methods available. In addition, the dissatisfaction of users with their current methods is noticeable, which constitutes another factor offering support to the previously stated question. Based on these factors, two important questions arise: Do women have reliable, truthful and conscious information about the contraceptive methods they have available in their environment? And, what would be the appropriate method according to each individual case? In order to answer these questions, 488 surveys were conducted in the different waiting rooms of the Hospital de Rocha. The age of the users, which ranged from 20 to 34 years (the ideal reproductive age according to the OMS) was taken as inclusion criteria for the investigation. In the present investigation, different variables were studied, such as the use or non-use of a contraceptive method, if said method was chosen based on received information, and from what source they acquired it. The data obtained included the following results: the total sample of the surveys showed that 83% of the women included in the age range selected as the inclusion criteria used some kind of contraceptive method. Out of the 100% of the surveyed women, 95% of them received prior information regarding the choice of the corresponding method. Furthermore, 88% of the women selected their preferred contraceptive method based on information they acquired. Of the total number of women surveyed, it is worth mentioning that 77% of the them obtained the information from health services, 12% of them acquired it form a family member, 8% of them obtained the information from a website, 3% of them received it from their friends. The lowest values regarding the question of where they obtained the information about contraceptive methods came from the educational centers: 0% from tertiary level institutions, 3% from secondary level institutions, and 0% from primary level institutions. In light of these results, it can be concluded that health services institutions are the main source of counseling regarding contraceptive methods, within which the figure of the Midwife obstetrician is a fundamental in Family Planning, together with the health team.
