This research is carried out within the framework of the final project for the Bachelor of Archives Science at the Faculty of Information and Communication (FIC) - Udelar. Its goal is to expose the implications of the presence of pigeons in heritage conservation institutions addressing both, the impact on the collections and the material they protect, as well as the risks that workers face in their daily work. For data collection, a mixed approach was used because it turned out to be the most complete, in the sense of being the most comprehensive, as it has a quantitative research phase and a qualitative phase, it is complemented with a form for the quantitative phase. and an interview for the qualitative one. As a result, a significant number of workers recognized the capacity that pigeons have to cause damage to property and health, but, on the other hand, there was the existence of a group that maintains a different criterion. This research provides the opportunity to reflect on the damage that pigeons can cause to the health of workers in the different information units where they perform their role, and the possible consequences, such as damage or loss of material that could affect our invaluable historical heritage.
