The main aim of this article is to review and systematize the literature on the relationship between the type of attachment developed in early childhood, parenting practices, and adolescent substance use. The selected studies show a consistent balance between early bonding experiences, parenting styles, and the emergence of addictive behaviors in adolescence. This review organizes and synthesizes the available knowledge in the disciplinary field, as well as existing research approaches and patterns, offering an updated framework that contributes to a comprehensive understanding of these variables in the context of the comprehensive development of children and adolescents in Latin America over the past ten years. This study was developed according to the PRISMA methodology; the search focused on empirical research conducted in countries in the region during the period from 2015 to 2025, in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
