Los efectos de los andrógenos sobre la maduración ovocitaria han sido controvertidos durante mucho tiempo, e l objetivo de la presente revisión fue estudiar la relación existente entre ellos y los mecanismos que involucra. Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en la base de datos Pubmed utilizando palabras clave. Se leyeron y analizaron artículos, de menos de 10 años de antigüedad realizados tanto en modelos animales (ratas, monos) como humanos. Dichas investigaciones muestran que fluctuaciones en los niveles de andrógenos podrían generar cambios en el número de ovocitos, la calidad de los mismos y su maduración.
Se destaca el bajo número de publicaciones sobre el tema y la necesidad de realizar mayor número de investigaciones que permitan aclarar los mecanismos específicos por medio de los cuales los andrógenos actúan sobre la maduración ovocitaria.
The effects of androgens on oocyte maturation have been controversial for a long time. The objective of this review is to identify the relationship between them and the mechanisms involved in it. Recent research shows that fluctuations in androgen levels could cause changes in the number of oocytes, their quality and maturation. Articles were reviewed using keywords in the Pubmed database. From the search, articles less than 10 years old were used in animal models such as: rats, monkeys and humans. The main conclusion is the need to carry out more research that can clarify the specific mechanisms through which androgens act on oocyte maturation.
