Resumen:

This paper presents the implementation of a video game inspired by Dance Dance Revolution on a 16-bit microcontroller (MCU). Using only 385 B of RAM, 13 kB of flash memory, and having the CPU master clock at 14 MHz, the system consists of : game logic, control of a 128x32 pixel OLED display, user input handling, and communication between MCUs for multiplayer mode, both via direct communication or over the Internet through a PC. The proposed solution demonstrates how low-cost embedded platforms are able to support non-trivial interactive applications while maintaining a low power consumption. In fact, the system is capable of supporting more than 80 hours of continuous gameplay powered by a 230 mAh CR2032 battery, which is equivalent to more than 2400 singleplayer games.
