Entre los años 1959 y 1960, el sistema interamericano se vió convulsionado por el triunfo de la Revolución cubana, así como por la influencia desestabilizadora e intervencionista del régimen de Rafael Trujillo en la República Dominicana. En este contexto incierto donde la lógica de la Guerra Fría se está haciendo cada vez más presente en América Latina, el objetivo de este artículo es analizar la actuación diplomática de Uruguay a través de las reuniones de consulta de cancilleres de la O.E.A, especialmente su defensa del principio de no intervención, el cual era entendido como fundamental para salvaguardar la integridad política y territorial del país.
Between 1959 and 1960, the Inter-American system was shaken by the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, as well as by the destabilizing and interventionist influence of Rafael Trujillo's regime in the Dominican Republic. In this uncertain context, where the logic of the Cold War is becoming increasingly present in Latin America, the aim of this article is, through the OAS foreign ministers' consultation meetings, to analyze Uruguay's diplomatic action, especially its defense of the principle of non-intervention, which was understood as fundamental to safeguarding the country's political and territorial integrity.
