Resumen:
En el presente trabajo monográfico se aborda la neuropsicología de la intervención y el deterioro neurocognitivo de la esquizofrenia. Se inicia con un recorrido conceptual breve acerca de la definición, epidemiología, patofisiología y etiología de la esquizofrenia para puntualizar en el trasfondo neural de su sintomatología clínica y cognitiva mediante una revisión sobre las modificaciones cerebrales a nivel neurobiológico y neuroanatómico. Se estudian las funciones neuropsicológicas implicadas con énfasis en las funciones ejecutivas, los recursos atencionales, la memoria y el lenguaje. A su vez, se abordan las temáticas self, cognición social y teoría de la mente, entre otros dominios que incluyen las habilidades visuoespaciales, perceptivas y de razonamiento y solución de problemas. Dando cierre con dos apartados que tratan sobre el deterioro neurocognitivo y la rehabilitación neuropsicológica de la esquizofrenia.
In the present monographic work, the neuropsychology of the intervention and the neurocognitive deterioration of schizophrenia are addressed. It begins with a brief conceptual journey about the definition, epidemiology, pathophysiology and etiology of schizophrenia to highlight the neural background of its clinical and cognitive symptoms through a review of brain changes at the neurobiological and neuroanatomical levels. The neuropsychological functions involved are studied with emphasis on executive functions, attentional resources, memory and language. At the same time, the subjects self, social cognition and theory of the mind are approached, among other domains that include the visuospatial, perceptive and reasoning abilities and problem solving. Giving closure with two sections dealing with neurocognitive impairment and neuropsychological rehabilitation of schizophrenia.
