En este artículo se realiza una revisión de la bibliografía relacionada con el tema costos y gestión de las organizaciones sanitarias. Se presenta un análisis de la actual organización hospitalaria y su gestión. Asimismo, se muestra tanto el proceso productivo como los diferentes enfoques del producto hospitalario; para finalmente abordar los costos referidos a organizaciones de salud y la aplicabilidad de diversas técnicas de gestión. Esta revisión hace hincapié en los costos y gestión de hospitales, por ser las organizaciones con mayor complejidad en el sector; por lo que las actividades que realizan otras entidades prestadoras de servicios de salud quedarían comprendidas dentro de éstos, aun cuando se consideren las peculiaridades de cada organización.
In this article we review the related bibliography on sanitary organization’s costs and management. We present an analysis of the current organization and hospital management. Likewise, both the production process and different approaches to product hospital are examined, to finally address the health organization’s costs and the applicability of various management techniques. This review emphasizes on hospital’s costs and management, due to hospitals are the greatest complexity organizations over the health sector. Consequently, the other health services provider’s activities would fall under the former category, even when considering each organization’s peculiarities.
