Resumen:
El presente artículo busca rescatar el la importancia política, histórica y diplomática de la VII Conferencia Internacional Americana desarrollada en Montevideo entre el 3 y 26 de diciembre de 1933. La trascendencia que tuvo este acontecimiento se destaca en visibilizar las relaciones diplomáticas de Estados Unidos con América Latina en el contexto de la convulsionada década del treinta. Por otro lado significó un evento fundamental para el movimiento feminista y sus reivindicaciones acerca de la igualdad de derechos políticos y civiles. Los objetivos planteados están centrados en el análisis particular de las reivindicaciones presentadas por las mujeres y sus argumentos respecto a la igualdad de derechos políticos y civiles, en las justificaciones y recomendaciones surgidas de la Conferencia deMontevideo de 1933. Parece interesante volver la mirada hacia este acontecimiento que, desde el punto de vista reivindicativo, visibilizó una problemática que afectaba a las mujeres y que consolidaba su re lación de sujeción respecto a los hombres. Incluso hoy, analizándolo en perspectiva actual nos preguntamos si esas reivindicaciones no siguen estando en la agenda de discusión política.
The present article seeks to rescue the political, historical and diplomatic importance of the VII International American Conference held in Montevideo between December 3 and 26, 1933. The significance of this event stands out in making visible the diplomatic relations of the United States with America. Latina in the context of the convulsed thirties. On the other hand, it meant a fundamental event for the feminist movement and its demands for equality of political and civil rights. The objectives set are focused on the particular analysis of the claims presented by the women and their arguments regarding the equality of political and civil rights, in the justifications and recommendations arising from the Montevideo Conference of 1933. It seems interesting to look back at this event which, from the standpoint of demand, made visible a problem that affected women and that consolidated their relationship of subjection with respect to men. Even today, analyzing it in a current perspective, we ask ourselves ifthose claims do not remain in the agenda ofpolitical discussion.
O presente artigo procura resgatar o significado e a importância política e diplomática da VII Conferência Internacional Americana, realizada em Montevidéu entre 3 e 26 de dezembro de 1933. A transcendência que teve esse acontecimento destacase em visibilizar as relações diplomáticas dos Estados Unidos com a América Latina no contexto da década convulsionada dos anos trinta. De outro lado, significou um evento fundamental para o movimento feminista e suas reivindicações sobre a igualdade de direitos políticos e civis. Os objetivos concentramse na análise particular das reivindicações das mulheres em relação à igualdade dos direitos políticos e civis, recomendações emanadas da Conferência de Montevidéu. de 1933. Olhar neste evento, tornou visível um problema que afetava as mulheres que consolidava sua relação de sujeição em relação aos homens. Mesmo hoje, analisando o numa perspectiva atual, nos perguntamos se esse tipo de demandas não permanecem ainda na agenda da discussão política.
