Resumen:
El consumo de sustancias psicoactivas en adolescentes es un problema a nivel mundial. Cuando se vuelve nocivo impacta en el ámbito social, el desempeño académico y la salud.
En 2021, una encuesta en educación media en Uruguay mostró una prevalencia de consumo de 83,1% para alcohol, 25,6% para marihuana y 23,2% para tabaco.
En la presente investigación se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal, en que se aplicó una encuesta mediante la herramienta formulario de Google a 52 adolescentes que concurrieron al Centro Cívico Dr. Salvador Allende, tanto al Centro Educativo de Capacitación, Artes y Producción (CECAP) como a policlínica, en el periodo julio-agosto de 2024.
Los objetivos del estudio fueron conocer las características sociodemográficas y las características del inicio de consumo de alcohol, tabaco y marihuana.
Como resultados se obtuvo que la sustancia más consumida fue el alcohol, con un 64,5% de prevalencia, mientras que el tabaco y marihuana quedaron en un segundo plano con porcentajes similares, 38,5% y 36,6% respectivamente. El inicio del consumo para las tres sustancias fue mayoritariamente antes de los 18 años y el motivo de inicio más frecuente fue la experimentación. Se observó que los padres/convivientes toleran más que el adolescente consuma alcohol, que marihuana y tabaco; por otro lado, un 50% de los padres son consumidores de tabaco, un 41% consumidores de alcohol y un 20,5% consumidores de marihuana.
The consumption of psychoactive substances in adolescents is a global issue. When it becomes harmful, it impacts the social sphere, the academic performance and the health. In 2021, a survey in secondary education in Uruguay showed a consumption prevalence of 83,1% for alcohol, 25,6% for cannabis and 23,2% for tobacco. In this research, an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out, in which a survey was applied using the Google form tool to 52 adolescents who attended to the Centro Cívico Dr. Salvador Allende, both the Centro Educativo de Capacitación, Artes y Producción (CECAP) as well as the polyclinic, in the period of July-August 2024. The objectives were to know the sociodemographic characteristics and the characteristics of the beginning of alcohol, tobacco and marijuana consumption. The results showed that the most consumed substance was alcohol, with a prevalence of 64,5%, while tobacco and marijuana remained in the background with similar percentages, 38,5% and 36,6% respectively. The onset of consumption for the three substances was mostly before the age of 18 and the most frequent reason for initiation was experimentation. It was observed that parents/cohabitants tolerate the adolescent's consumption of alcohol more than marijuana and tobacco; on the other hand, 50% of parents are tobacco consumers, 41% alcohol consumers and 20,5% marijuana users.
