Pressure ulcers (UPP) represent a major health problem and are considered an international level as an indicator of healthcare quality. In Uruguay we do not currently have data that epidemiologically situate us with respect to pathology. The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of pressure ulcers in patients admitted to the Hospital de Clínicas, on August 29 and 30, 2019. A cross-sectional observational study was carried out, through convenience sampling, data were collected through interviews, surveys and review of medical records. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Of the total 261 patients admitted, 12 UPPs were captured in 7 patients, with a prevalence of 2.68%. The most frequent topographies found were sacral and heel. From the analysis of the results, the need arises to implement a common protocol to standardize the prevention and early diagnosis of the lesions that allow to unify the approach and timely treatment of the same.
