Cardiovascular risk factors (CVRF) have been shown to have a positive correlation in the development of cognitive impairment (CI). Arterial Hypertension (HTN) has the greatest impact on this disease. The prevalence of neurocognitive disorders could be reduced and even slow down the evolution to dementia, by prevention, detection and timely treatment of CVRF. The aim of this study is to evaluate the incidence of CVRF in the development of different varieties of CD. We carried out a bibliographic review of prospective Pubmed online studies, relating neurocognitive disease incidence with cardiovascular risk factors, in the last ten years. Results: 20 studies were collected, of which 6 developed non-typified dementia, 4 CI, 8 dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AD) simultaneously, 2 dementia and CI, 1 being mild cognitive impairment (MCI). It stands out that no study evidenced AD as the only disease. Regarding the independent variable (CVRF), 6 studies included more than one CVRF. 14 studies presented only 1 CVRF, specifically 3 HT, 4 Diabetes Mellitus, 4 dyslipidemia, 1 atrial fibrillation, 1 thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), and 1 albuminuria / creatininuria (UACR). Conclusion: This study shows an increase in the incidence of CD in relation to CVRF, in its different forms of presentation from MCI to dementia.
