Multiple myeloma (MM) is a malignant disease characterised by infiltration of the bone marrow by neoplastic plasma cells and the production of monoclonal immunoglobulins. It represents 1.8% of all neoplasms and 10% of haematologic malignancies. It mostly affects people between the ages of 65-75 and predominates in men. At diagnosis, most patients present with bone lytic lesions, anemia and weight loss. The role of imaging, including conventional radiography (Rx), magnetic resonance imaging (RM), low-dose full-body tomography (CT) and PET/CT has evolved substantially in the last decade. This research focused on comparing PET/CT results with other imaging techniques performed at the same time at diagnosis in patients with MM. In line with international publications, we found that PET/CT detects more bone and extraosseus lesions in MM.
