Resumen:
Con el retorno a la democracia en el Uruguay (1985 – 1990), se sucedieronmodificaciones que en algunos casos tuvieron incluso características estructurales. Si bien buena parte de este recorrido histórico ha sido abordado desde la academia, el rol y las condiciones en las cuales el Canal del Estado (canal 5) transitó dicho período continúa siendo una incógnita. Las posturas en torno a ¿qué hacer? con el canal estatal, una vez recuperada la democracia fueron diversas; y en general se encontraron determinadas por las presiones y los intereses tanto de públicos como privados. Ya fuera desde el sector empresarial, como de la clase política. Aproximarnos a estas tensiones y debates es una parte sustancial de este trabajo.
