En Uruguay, la Universidad de la República, como principal institución universitaria, tiene la responsabilidad de liderar la democratización de la educación superior para atender el incremento de la matrícula de población vulnerable y en desventaja. Esto requiere la implementación y fortalecimiento de políticas de apoyo a las trayectorias educativas de sus estudiantes. La tesis construye un marco teórico que integra las categorías de Orientación Vocacional, Construcción de Proyecto de Vida, Apoyo y Participación como factores esenciales para comprender la permanencia y trayectorias educativas en la institución. La investigación se enfoca en la percepción de los estudiantes sobre estos factores y sus estrategias de continuidad educativa. Los estudiantes de cuarto año de las carreras de Veterinaria, Odontología y Contador Público constituyen la unidad de análisis. Es una investigación cualitativa, basada en el paradigma interpretativo para describir y comprender los acontecimientos del estudio. Esto permitió delimitar la incidencia de los factores definidos, obtener criterios sobre las trayectorias educativas y evaluar la permanencia de los estudiantes. Incluye un relevamiento de estudios nacionales sobre la temática realizados en la universidad que aportó elementos teóricos y contextuales relevantes, establecidos como antecedentes para la propuesta. Proporciona, además, una herramienta metodológica de análisis que permite interpretar las entrevistas en profundidad realizadas, basándose en las dimensiones de análisis e indicadores establecidos. Se identificaron asimismo las etapas de las trayectorias en las cuales los factores estudiados intervienen significativamente, proporcionando a la Universidad de la República la argumentación necesaria para elaborar y ajustar acciones de apoyo en consecuencia.
In Uruguay, the University of the Republic, as the main university institution, has the responsibility of leading the democratization of higher education to meet the increase in enrollment of vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. This requires the implementation and strengthening of policies to support the educational trajectories of their students. The thesis builds a theoretical framework that integrates the categories of Vocational Orientation, Construction of Life Project, Support and Participation as essential factors to understand the permanence and educational trajectories at the institution. The research focuses on students' perception of these factors and their strategies for educational continuity. Fourth-year students of Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry and Public Accountant careers constitute the unit of analysis. It is a qualitative research, based on the interpretative paradigm to describe and understand the events of the study. This made it possible to delimit the incidence of the defined factors, obtain criteria on educational trajectories and evaluate the permanence of students. It includes a survey of national studies on the subject carried out at the university that provided relevant theoretical and contextual elements, established as background for the proposal. It also provides a methodological analysis tool that allows the interpretation of the in-depth interviews carried out, based on the dimensions of analysis and indicators established. The stages of the trajectories in which the factors studied intervene significantly were also identified, providing University of the Republic with the necessary argumentation to elaborate and adjust support actions accordingly.
